The Kokoda app offers a unique perspective on a significant chapter of World War II, presenting both engaging visuals and poignant narratives. Users can experience emotional interviews with Australian and Japanese survivors of the Kakoda campaign, as well as the remarkable contributions of the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels who played a crucial role in this historic event.

One of the app's standout features is its interactive 3D imagery, which provides a detailed view of the challenging terrain and battle sites. By tilting or tapping their iPad, users are able to switch perspectives between Australian Diggers and Japanese troops, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of the harsh conditions faced during this campaign, including steep landscapes and muddy environments. Furthermore, users can look up the names of over 2,000 Diggers who lost their lives in this conflict.

Conceived by author Patrick Lindsay, the Kokoda app encapsulates the enduring values that emerged from Gallipoli and matured during Kokoda: mateship, sacrifice, courage, and resilience in the face of adversity. This narrative continues to resonate strongly, evoking inspiration for contemporary audiences.

The Kokoda campaign was pivotal in thwarting a Japanese invasion aimed at seizing Port Moresby on land. The hypothetical success of this invasion would have left Australia vulnerable to further threats.
